Bleacher Report

Test your sports knowledge, compete with friends in real-time

The
Challenge

Bleacher Report, with a planned sponsorship by Jim Beam, aimed to develop a new type of sports trivia solution that users could play anywhere, with anyone, anytime. The new game was to be part of B/R’s wider “Fam Favorite” initiative and associated campaigns. Bleacher Report was seeking a digital product partner to research, ideate, design, and build out the mobile application and associated technology.

The
Solution

Utility was chosen to work with the folks at B/R and Jim Beam to design and engineer out the new “Fam Favorite” trivia product, meant to be played in a “Heads Up” style, live and in-person with friends.

A branded, immersive and engaging experience

Utility worked to support both B/R and Jim Beam's interests, from ideation, strategy and research, to full design and development of the entire iOS, Android and Web experiences.

Get everyone in on the action

Utility built interactive tools and features to allow you to invite your friends and play through various rounds of trivia to put your sports knowledge to the test. Users create teams to get even more players in on the action.

Pass the phone, stare down your opponents

Show your skills, earn your bragging rights

Users were incentiveized to share share their game outcomes with friends to increase the organic discovery funnel.

The
ResultS

Bleacher Report was able to add an important, engagement-rich product to their arsenal that can be sponsored and branded by any future partners of theirs. The product is one of the first of its kind, giving B/R a new media vehicle to bring revenue and monetization to their marketing and sales engine.
